On September 28th, Shu Yinbiao, Deputy General Manager of State Grid Corporation of China, announced that the planned construction of the Huainan Shanghai ultra-high voltage AC transmission line has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. This means that the ultra-high voltage AC approval work, which has been stagnant for nearly two years, has been broken, and the development of ultra-high voltage AC transmission projects has begun to accelerate.
It is reported that the 1000 kV Huainan Shanghai transmission and transformation project is the first commercial ultra-high voltage project constructed after the successful trial operation of the Jindongnan Nanyang Jingmen ultra-high voltage AC test demonstration project. It is also the world's transmission network with high voltage, large transmission capacity, and representing the international level of transmission and transformation technology.
The approval of the Huainan Shanghai power transmission and transformation project was expected, as the reverse distribution of energy resources and load centers in China has promoted the development of the ultra-high voltage power grid. It can be said that the approval of the second AC ultra-high voltage project signifies a substantial step forward in the 'West East Power Transmission' strategy, "Zhang Jianhua, director of the Transmission and Distribution System Research Institute at North China Electric Power University, told China Energy News reporters.
Ultra high voltage will increase cross provincial power supply
The Notice on Issuing the Review Opinions on the Supplementary Feasibility Study Report of the Huainan Shanghai Power Transmission and Transformation Project for the Anhui East Power Transmission Project specifies that the Huainan Shanghai Power Transmission and Transformation Project passes through Anhui, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, with the construction of four new substations (switch stations) in Huainan, southern Anhui, northern Zhejiang, and western Shanghai, and the construction of 2 × 656 kilometers of 1000 kV lines, with a total static investment of 20.4 billion yuan. Among them, Huainan Ultra High Voltage Station and Wannan Switching Station will be built in Anhui Province, with an additional substation capacity of 3 million kVA and a line length of 2 × 457 kilometers. After the completion of the project, the two Huai coal-fired power bases can increase their external power transmission capacity by about 7.9 million kilowatts. According to Shu Yinbiao, the scale of the Huainan Shanghai ultra-high voltage AC project is more than twice that of the Jindongnan Jingmen demonstration project, in terms of line length, investment, and transmission capacity.
The approval of the Huainan Shanghai ultra-high voltage AC transmission line is mainly to increase cross regional and cross provincial power supply, "Hao Weiping, Deputy Director of the Power Department of the National Energy Administration, told reporters. The construction of the second ultra-high voltage line will be conducive to playing the role of transmission lines, ensuring supply, and expanding transmission capacity. This year's cross regional power transmission has increased by 25% compared to last year, and power grid construction is a very important part of power construction, "said Hao Weiping.
Xie Jingdong, Director of the Transmission and Power Supervision Department of the East China Electricity Regulatory Bureau, told our reporter that the Huainan Shanghai power transmission and transformation project is different from the Jindongnan Nanyang Jingmen ultra-high voltage AC project. The Jindongnante High Voltage AC Project is a line of the regional power grid, while the Huainan Power Transmission and Transformation Project is a line within the region, which also has certain experimental properties
According to Xie Jingdong, the East China side is ready to start studying the relevant issues of the Huainan Shanghai power transmission and transformation project. We will prioritize the safety of the power grid and establish corresponding emergency measures
