On September 27th, the National Development and Reform Commission officially issued a document approving the Anhui East Power Transmission 1000 kV Huainan Shanghai Ultra High Voltage AC Transmission Demonstration Project. This is another approved ultra-high voltage AC transmission project after the 1000 kV Jindongnan Nanyang Jingmen ultra-high voltage AC test demonstration project.
The Huainan Shanghai Ultra High Voltage AC Transmission Demonstration Project is an important channel for power transmission from the Anhui Huainan Coal fired Power Base, an important power source to ensure reliable power supply in the eastern part of East China, and an important means to alleviate environmental and land resource pressures in East China and solve the problem of exceeding the 500 kV short-circuit capacity of the East China power grid. The project starts from Huainan Substation in Anhui Province, passes through Wannan Substation and Zhebei Substation, and ends at Huxi Substation in Shanghai. The total length of the double circuit line on the same tower is 2 × 656 kilometers, jointly funded and constructed by three power companies in Anhui, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.
